The giant Buddha statue in Leshan, China

In these photos we can see the stone statue depicting the world’s largest Buddha. It is located near the city of Leshan, Sichuan Province, China. The construction began in 713 by a Chinese monaco who was trying to calm the raging rivers. It was completed only after ninety years.

The statue is about 71 meters high and is part of the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a Maitreya Buddha in a sitting position with his hands on his knees. In the photos you can see the statue from different angles so it is clear the size of this huge Chinese statue.
