If there was a city that had a mix of old and new architecture that complemented each other perfectly, had a unique character, endless landmarks and plenty of cultural activities, would you visit it? Liverpool has all that and more, but if you decide to head to the city, what should you see and do? Here are some suggestions:
Liverpool International Jazz Festival
Since opening in 2010, the Capstone Theatre has played host to quite a few jazz concerts, but this is the biggest event to be held here to date. The International Jazz Festival sees stars including Courtney Pine take to the stage and enthral fans from all over the world. A former European Capital of Culture, this is exactly the sort of event Liverpool hosts more often than before.
Aintree Racecourse
A day at the races is great if you want to enjoy yourself. Aintree has race meetings throughout the year, but the most famous is the Grand National, which takes place this month.
The National is the biggest individual race that takes place in the UK, and attending will give you an unforgettable experience. If you end up attending a race at Aintree, Ladbrokes have great odds online if you fancy a flutter whilst at the races.
Chester Zoo
Although not exactly in Liverpool, it’s just a short ride away. For a family day out, where better than a zoo? Here, there are over 7,000 animals who call the zoo home, while the play areas for the kids will help them to burn a little energy off while you can sit down and relax after a few hours interacting with some of the most exotic animals you’ll ever come into contact with.
Dining out
Something Liverpool has become famous for is its array of restaurants serving food made to recipes from the local area and the wider world. As well as the food, the location of some restaurants makes eating out here such a great experience. One such venue is the Panoramic, which sits on the 34th floor of the West Tower, offering views of Liverpool and the Wirral from your seat!
