Liquids in hand luggage | Rules

As we mentioned in our post about Hand luggage, preparing the luggage of our trip is as important as other coordination or prior to our shipment procedure. In relation to hand luggage, in recent years changes have been occurring within the rules of what is or not allowed in it to avoid any threats inside the plane. Since the end of 2006 there were new safety standards at all airports belonging to the European Union. These are applicable to any passengers transiting through EU airports regardless of their destination. The rules are related to the restriction on the amount of liquid that each passenger can carry in their hand luggage to pass security checks at the airport. Please note that purchases made in airport shops once past security checkpoints are not subject to these rules. To avoid problems we must consider the following.

What is considered liquid are gels, toothpastes, lotions, syrups, soups, perfumes, sprays, shaving creams and the like. All liquids must be in containers not exceeding 100ml each and they must be packaged inside a resealable plastic bag whose dimension is less than 20 × 20 cm. What is excluded from this is food or medication that is required by the passenger for their health while on the plane. Whether drugs are used or not by prescription, it is recommended that you have your proof of purchase if requested by any of the security points.

If you are making a trip with EU Plug note, airport security only allow in your hand luggage products that are properly packed in a plastic bag that is sealed and have attached proof of purchase. Any other product purchased at an airport that does not belong to the EU will be confiscated at the airport security points. Remember that you are applied measures to increase the safety of all passengers and therefore if you can not place all the liquid you want to carry in your checked baggage it is important that you comply with all the safety measures mentioned above.
