September 2013 Events | Milano Film Festival turns 18

The Milano Film Festival celebrates its coming of age. The eighteenth edition of the festival that is celebrated every September is a great reason to go back to visit the capital of Lombardy. Cinema young, alternative, independent, away from the splendor of Venice and Rome and always mixed with DJ sets, live events and more. For ten days it is an unmissable event for lovers of nightlife in Milano.

The competition features many films. As usual it is only open to first and second works by directors from all art in the world. Out of eleven participants, eight are women directors. One of the most popular is Celesia of Alessandra, the Italian director who works in France. The background or character of her film is a Turin bled by the economic crisis. In the event Also stands Ilo Ilo Anthony Chen, a former winner of the Camera d’Or at Cannes. It evokes the Asian financial collapse of the ’90s. Always interesting is the exhibition Faults State which lengthens the look on the complex reality of the power system in the world.

There are many Festival venues located in the city center. The main stage is the Teatro Strehler, home of the projections of the feature and short films competition, out of competition and the reviews of The magic box. Outside entertainment includes every night with DJ sets of the festival. Finally there’s the Studio Theatre, Parco Sempione, the Auditorium San Fedele, the Art Theatre at the Triennale, Spazio Oberdan, Cascina Cockaigne and the former Bazzi. For music, in addition to the churchyard of Strehler here are the Parklive, osia concerts and DJ sets scheduled every night at Parco Sempione. There will be parties around the whole of Milan so having fun is ensured for this event!
