Koh Lipe is an amazing island in Thailand which is near the border with Malaysia and the Andaman Sea. It has begun to attract international travelers only 20 years ago. Unlike the rest of the islands of the Tarutao National Park, the tourist development of this small island was guided by the indigenous Chao Lay (literally “people of the sea”), which retain the ancestral rights on the island.
From the first small resort, we moved to the villages that are every year sprouting like mushrooms on the island. Today the small Ko Lipe, in high season, is full of travelers from all over the world and the presence of a diverse international tourism has made possible the development of a wide culinary offer. Among the many amazing things you can find in the island are sandy beaches, crystal clear waters ideal for snorkeling, nature hikes, relaxing feeling and lively at the same time.
Ko Lipe has three main beaches, each of them has its own special atmosphere. Pattaya Beach in the south-west, with fine white sand, it is popular among young people thanks to its lively atmosphere. With more than a dozen bars, many of which are clustered near the entrance to Walking Street. Pattaya Beach is the ideal place for nightlife. To the east lies Sunrise Beach, the longest stretch of beach on Lipe. During the high season is windy and the sea ripples, but has a perfect atmosphere for photographs. The Sunset Beach, which is much smaller, is a 10-minute walk north-west shore of the island.
