Hanoi | The treasure of Vietnam

On the banks of the Red River with its architectural marvels and a history of domination, cultural influences and war, you will find Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. You will not have problems arriving in Hanoi by plane. The Vietnamese city is in fact served by an international airport Noi Bai in which they call numerous airlines. Hanoi, whose name in the local language means city beyond the river, is a metropolis with a population of more than three million inhabitants that saw the light as the first urban settlement in the first century of the year one thousand.

Among the major attractions of the city there is the One Pillar Pagoda built at the beginning of the year one thousand for the Emperor Ly Thai Tong and is characterized by a pillar that holds the entire structure. In the city center you can admire instead the Theatre of Hanoi, a newer building of clear European influence. The theater was in fact built during the French domination and has nothing to envy to the sumptuous Parisian buildings. Definitely stunning is also the Cathedral of St. Joseph, a Catholic church of the nineteenth century with neo Gothic style, also the daughter of European influence.

However, Asian symbol of the city is undoubtedly the Mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh, similar in some ways to the Red Square in Moscow that houses what remains of Lenin. The expertly embalmed body of Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnamese leader and founder of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam rests in a glass case in this huge gray granite building opened in 1975.

Among the religious buildings of Catholic worship in addition to the aforementioned St. Joseph Cathedral, stands the Church of the Martyrs. It is a building in Art Deco style of the thirties of the twentieth century and the Church of St. Anthony of Padua. Hanoi with its multiple styles has managed to turn into treasure some of the deepest scars inflicted by history. Hanoi is truly a city and a country that will captivate you.
