I heart airports

I’ve been on holiday more times than I’ve had hot dinners. Okay, that might be a stretch, but I’ve been away a lot, and I’m somewhat of an expert on the whole pre-holiday airport business. The first time I went away, I was so scared of the airport that I forgot to enjoy it; nowadays I’ve learnt the ways and means to make the airport experience an enjoyable part of my holiday, and I make sure I grab every second, including duty-free!

Airports

Whilst there are many things that can go wrong where travel plans are concerned, if you’re organised and you’ve planned, e.g. bought adequate insurance, there’s little chance of anything major happening, and every chance you’ll go and have a fantastic holiday, and your luggage will end up in the same destination as you!

Getting to the airport itself can be a nightmare if you haven’t planned accordingly, with train delays and busy coaches all adding to stress levels, so I go one better and pre-book airport parking, meaning an altogether more chilled-out and leisurely journey to the airport. On top of that, I combine my parking with airport hotels, and I welcome my holiday a day sooner than planned.

There are a wide range of hotels available at most large airports, including the great value Heathrow Airport Hotels from AirportHotels.com. I’ve stayed at a few of these over the last couple of years, including a fantastic stay last summer, and I would highly recommend it, especially if you’re travelling a fair distance to the capital for the cheaper flight prices.

So what exactly is it that I enjoy so much about airport hotels?

Well, for a start, it’s beginning my holiday early that is the main pull. I love holidays, it makes sense I want to start sooner rather than later. But secondly, it’s the chance for extra sleep prior to travelling. Everyone knows that no matter how far you’re travelling, the whole sitting still and waiting is tiring, and if you’re heading through time zones, you have impending jetlag to deal with. I enjoy the chance to get ready for my travel day at my own pace, enjoying a shower, washing my hair, fresh clothes, a nice warm bed, with a delicious breakfast to top it all off, knowing that I only have to travel minutes to the terminal. Most hotels put on free shuttles to the terminal, and some are even in walking distance, so you will always arrive fresh at the airport, ready to face the day, and hit duty-free and the bar with gusto!

Holidays are to be enjoyed, so why shouldn’t the build up and travel be enjoyed too?

The last time I booked an airport hotel, I stayed at the Holiday inn at Birmingham, one of a large range of Birmingham Airport hotels, and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. My stay was memorable for all the right reasons, and the 15 minutes’ transfer meant I was at the terminal, ready to go, with a smile on my face.

Sound good? Search for Hotels Birmingham Airport and I guarantee you’ll be amazed at the prices available. I’d recommend combining your stay with airport parking too, to save even more.

The airport is not a place to be worried about, not with shiny duty-free shops, bars, restaurants and the plane that is waiting to jet you off to the sun – make the travel experience a fantastic part of your holiday!
