Moscow is a city on the banks of the Moskva River and the capital of Russia. Red Square is the main and most popular square in Moscow which is about 23.100 square meters big. This place divides the commercial area Kitay Gorod from the Kremlin. The Kremlin is a fortress which today is used as the main site of the President. It is composed of a series of fortifications, both religious and civil constructions. To the south lies the Moskva River and west the Alexander Garden.
St. Basil’s Cathedral is one of the best known faces of the city. Also known as the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Virgin on the mound, the Orthodox church which was built in 1561 by Tsar Ivan the Terrible is known worldwide for its colorful domes and bulbous. The National Museum of History of Russia has a collection of the remains of the first cultures in the area as well as valuable art objects belonging to the Romanov dynasty.
The Seven Sisters called thus to a set of seven skyscrapers built during the last years of Stalin’s rule. The reason for its construction was to celebrate the 8th anniversary of the city. Additionally it was planned to build another building, however the work was never completed. Moscow is a major cultural capital of the world and has theaters such as the Bolshoi Theatre, the most emblematic of the city and is home of opera and ballet such as the theater malii.
